Origami Catering Job DescriptionPosition Line/Prep Cook (Origami Kitchen)Origami Catering is a Portland-based food company supplying sushi and Asian-inspied cuisine to grocery stores, schools, and hospitals. We're seeking a reliable Prep/Line Cook to join our team at our USDA-certified central Kitchen.

In this role you'll prepare and cook Asian-inspired hot foods -- including noodles, curry, and musubi -- as well as prep sushi ingredients like seafood, vegetables, suaces, and rice. We're a small, close-knit team with real room to grow. We'd love to have you!
Schedule:
Part-time 3-4 days; 20-30 hrs/week (with opportunity for full-time) Friday and Saturday availability desired.
Shift:
7:30am-4:00pm
Payrate:
$18-20 per hourHiring is contingent of passing a background and referral check.
What You'll Do:
Cook and package Asian-inspired foods for both bulk and retailPrep vegetables, seafood, sauces, rice, and other ingredients Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and work areaAssist with inventory and ad hoc kitchen tasksFollow all company, state, and local food safety guidelinesWhat We're Looking For1+ year of commercial or restaurant kitchen experienceExperience cooking hot foods and operating kitchen equipment (stovetop, convection oven, blast chiller, etc)Solid understanding of measurements (oz, lbs, tbsp, cups, etc)Intermediate/Advanced knife skills are required, comfort with high volume prep is a plusUSDA-certified facility experience is a plusMust be dependable, punctual, and work with a sense of urgencyAbility to work a flexible schedule as neededMust be able to stand for the full shift and lift 50 lbs occasionallyBe friendly, positive, and have a team mindset
Dress Code:
Long pants required (no shorts or skirts)Non-slip closed toed shoes must be worn in the kitchen No jewelry or piercings allowed while working in the kitchenKitchen coats and hairnets are mandatory. People with facial hair must wear a beard net or face mask.
