Job Description
Cook - Private School Nutrition Management Services Company (NMSC) is seeking an experienced and dependable Cook to join our culinary team at a private school. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary professional who takes pride in preparing fresh, high-quality food and enjoys working as part of a professional, team-oriented kitchen. Position Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing and producing meals for students, faculty, staff, and guests in accordance with established menus, recipes, production schedules, and food safety standards. We are looking for someone who brings strong cooking skills, consistency, attention to detail, and a positive attitude to the kitchen each day. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production requirements. Produce high-quality food with an emphasis on flavor, freshness, appearance, and consistency. Prepare proteins, vegetables, starches, soups, sauces, and other menu items as assigned. Set up and maintain assigned production and service stations. Follow proper portioning and presentation standards. Assist with daily food production for student dining, faculty meals, catering, and special school events. Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper food handling and storage procedures. Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergen, and cross-contact prevention procedures. Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating food and supplies. Minimize food waste and use ingredients and supplies responsibly. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Assist other members of the culinary team as needed to ensure smooth and timely meal service. Qualifications Previous professional cooking experience preferred. Experience in restaurants, schools, healthcare, corporate dining, catering, or other high-volume food service environments is a plus. Working knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment. Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately. Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. ServSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain as required. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move food, supplies, and kitchen equipment as required.
