Job Description
BBQ Cook - Part-Time The Food Shack Job Overview The Food Shack is seeking a reliable, hardworking BBQ Cook to join our team. Open availability is preferred , including weekends and holidays, to help meet the needs of our busy restaurant. Whether you're an experienced cook or just starting your culinary journey, we'd love to hear from you. We are looking for someone with a great work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Candidates with little or no professional kitchen experience are encouraged to apply—we are happy to train the right person. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable kitchen experience and grow into a larger role within our kitchen as your skills and experience develop. Important Information - Please Read Before Applying To ensure applicants have a clear understanding of this role, please note the following: Approximately 50% of each shift will be dedicated to washing dishes, cleaning cookware, and maintaining a clean kitchen. This is a core responsibility of the position and is not shared with a separate dishwasher during these shifts. Our kitchen is very small , so the ability to stay organized, multitask, and work efficiently in a limited space is essential. This position requires flexibility and a team-first attitude. Everyone helps wherever needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly. Responsibilities Prepare BBQ meats and menu items according to recipes and quality standards. Ensure all food is prepared safely and in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain food quality, consistency, and proper portioning. Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies need replenishing. Assist with food preparation and kitchen organization throughout the shift. Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and cooking equipment throughout the day, which will account for approximately half of each shift. Keep all kitchen equipment, workstations, and storage areas clean and organized. Work efficiently with the kitchen team to ensure timely service. Follow all health and safety guidelines. Qualifications Previous BBQ or line cook experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates with little or no kitchen experience are encouraged to apply—we will train the right person. Knowledge of food safety and proper food handling procedures is preferred. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
