General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Center Director, this Per Diem position is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the meal site with strict adherence to the RI Department of Health Regulations, and performing other related Senior Center duties. •Must hold a Food Safety Certification•Click here to apply
Essential Functions:
Prepare lunch meals both to go and in-house for members of the Town Senior Center Accepts and records meal site reservations and any subsequent revisions throughout the week. Collects and records all monies received, the meal site attendance, and any additional data requested. Makes a reservation for meal site attendants with transportation needs, with the Smithfield Senior Center van. Coordinate any subsequent changes. Facilitates the food service by setting up the dining room and assigning seats to the attendees. Performs a variety of food preparation duties, such as preparing cold foods, apportioning heated food, and brewing coffee and tea. Coordinates and supervises kitchen volunteers, instructs workers and meal attendees in the rules and regulations of the meal site. Verifies and records that the proper temperature for food distributed at the meal site and the Meals on Wheels prepared food is at the proper temperature mandated by the Health Department. Assists with the cleaning of the meal site and inspection of the area for sanitizing and adherence to RI Department of Health Regulations. Prepares and cooks homemade soup; cools soup properly following the Health Department's mandates, then packages the soup for sale. Job Requirements -
Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED preferred Able to stand for at least four hours. Able to lift at least 25 lbs. Act independently and exercise discretion in choosing a course of action Prepare written reports and to maintain routine records as needed. Food Safety certified. Three (3) years of professional cooking experience preferred
