Job Summary Join our dedicated culinary team as a Nursing Home Cook, specializing in long-term care services. In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents. Your culinary expertise will ensure that each meal promotes health and well-being while providing a comforting and enjoyable dining experience. Duties Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines, ensuring high-quality food production. Plan menus that meet nutritional standards and accommodate special dietary restrictions for residents. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, braising pans, poaching devices, and food processors. Maintain strict food safety and sanitizing procedures to ensure a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling techniques to prevent contamination and ensure freshness. Assist with food presentation and plating to enhance the dining experience for residents. Support dietary department staff with food preparation tasks such as braising, grilling, poaching, and other cooking techniques used in high-volume production settings. Requirements Prior experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food service role within a healthcare or long-term care setting is preferred. Demonstrated skills in menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation for large groups. Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures. Proficiency in operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively. Experience with food industry standards including catering, restaurant service, or culinary arts is highly desirable. Excellent knife skills along with expertise in cooking techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and food production processes. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
