Kitchen Team Member (Wok Cooks)- Full-Time Gao's BBQ and Crab Allen, TX Job Details Full-time $14 - $18 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Training program Kitchen health and safety standards Recipe adherence Pre-cooking preparation Ability to follow instructions Chinese cuisine Full Job Description Gao's BBQ & Crab in Allen is hiring full-time Wok Cooks for our back-of-house team. Pay and Training Paid seven-day training program totaling approximately 29 hours Training rate: $14.00 per hour After successfully completing the training program and passing the final evaluation, the regular Wok Cook rate will be $18.00 per hour Continued placement in the Wok Cook position depends on successful completion of the required training and assessments Position Overview The Wok Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items using commercial wok equipment while following company recipes, portion standards, food-safety requirements, and service expectations. The training program begins with basic wok handling and wok-tossing practice. A wok-skills assessment will be conducted on the third training day. Candidates who pass will continue with ingredient and sauce recognition, menu training, supervised cooking, preparation work, shift handoff, closing procedures, and final evaluation. Schedule This is a full-time position averaging approximately 35-39 hours per week.
Candidates must be available for:
Weekday and weekend shifts Afternoon and evening shifts Split shifts when scheduled Late-night and closing shifts ending as late as approximately 2:30 AM Possible shifts may include afternoon-to-evening shifts, late-night closing shifts, split shifts, and longer weekend shifts. Actual schedules will be assigned according to restaurant operating needs. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items using commercial wok equipment Follow company recipes, portions, cooking times, and presentation standards Identify and correctly use ingredients, sauces, seasonings, utensils, and kitchen equipment Prepare ingredients and employee meals as assigned Maintain food quality, consistency, temperature, and cooking standards Complete stocking, preparation, handoff, waste-recording, and ordering-related duties Clean the wok station, cooking equipment, work area, refrigerators, and storage areas Refill sauces, ingredients, and supplies before shift handoff Complete assigned opening and closing duties Follow food-safety, sanitation, attendance, and workplace-safety procedures Communicate and work efficiently with the kitchen manager and other team members Perform other related back-of-house duties as assigned Qualifications Legally authorized to work in the United States Able to commute reliably to the Allen location Reliable attendance and scheduling availability Comfortable working in a fast-paced and hot kitchen environment Able to follow recipes, instructions, and company procedures Willing and able to complete the paid training program and required skills assessments Previous wok-cooking or commercial-kitchen experience is preferred Available for weekend, late-night, split, and closing shifts Work Location Gao's BBQ & Crab 190 E Stacy Rd Allen, TX 75002
