Job Description

Position Summary The Cook & Kitchen Assistant serves as the primary support to the Food & Beverage Director in the day-to-day operation and organization of the church kitchen. This role is essential to ensuring our food ministry runs smoothly, safely, and with the spirit of hospitality that reflects the heart of our church community. The Kitchen Assistant helps plan meals for events and ministries, manage inventory and supplies, and ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with health guidelines and our church's standards of excellence. Key Responsibilities Kitchen Operations Support Assist the Food & Beverage Director with daily kitchen operations, setup, and breakdown. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment always. Ensure all equipment is used properly and report any maintenance needs promptly. Follow and enforce all health, safety, and food handling guidelines. Meal Planning & Event Support Collaborate with the Food Director to plan meals for church events, services, and ministry gatherings. Assist in preparing and serving meals for scheduled events and weekly ministries. Coordinate food preparation timelines to ensure meals are ready on schedule. Adapt meals as needed to accommodate dietary restrictions or special requests. Inventory & Supply Management Monitor and track kitchen inventory, including food, supplies, and equipment. Assist with ordering and restocking supplies Organize and rotate stored food items following proper food safety procedures. Report low inventory or supply needs in a timely manner. Health, Safety, Cleanliness & Maintenance Uphold all applicable local health codes and food safety regulations. Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and temperature monitoring. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, equipment, storage areas, and dining spaces. Ensure all equipment is clean and working order Assist in training volunteers on kitchen safety practices as needed. Hospitality & Ministry Culture Represent the church with warmth, humility, and a servant's heart in all kitchen interactions. Work cooperatively with volunteers, kitchen staff, and ministry leaders. Support the Food Director in fostering a welcoming and joyful environment for the kitchen team and all who are served. Qualifications Required Genuine commitment to the mission and values of the church. Experience in a kitchen, food service, or catering environment. Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work collaboratively and take directions from the Food & Beverage Director. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
