Job Description
Prepares and/or serves breakfast and hot lunches for children enrolled in Child Care Center. Organizes and cleans kitchen according to health department standards. Maintain nutritional requirements as identified by supervisorHigh school diploma or GED required AND Two (2) years of cooking experience in a large group setting with thorough knowledge of kitchen equipment operations.
- Experience working with children from twelve (12) months to six (6) years of age preferred.
- Must have a clear Tuberculosis (TB) Test not older than one (1) year.
- Successful completion of Texas DFPS Licensing Division Background Check required upon hire.
- Must have Food Management Certification or become certified within two (2) weeks of hire.
- A strong commitment to the mission of Central Texas College.
- Knowledge of Texas Department of Agriculture food and nutrition guidelines
- Ability to perform measurement necessary in cooking for large groups.
- Ability to maintain a safe and sanitary food preparation area.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to many varied situations.
- Ability to maintain appropriate and professional behavior at all times.
- Ability to work under pressure with multiple interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural community environment.
- Prepares breakfast, snacks and lunches to be served on schedule identified by supervisor; prepares food service cart and takes to classrooms for children's meals.
- Be sure all meals and snacks are served on time
- Cleans and maintains kitchen area in a sanitary, safe and organized manner as required by the Center and health department.
- Wash all dishes, cooking utensils, etc., in dishwasher
- Keep kitchen cupboards, appliances, sink bins, counters, preparation table, and closets clean and neat.
- Prepares foods for freezing by carefully packaging and dating with freezing dates to ensure proper rotations of foods.
- Perform simple laundry tasks
- Sweep and mop kitchen floor
- Assist with emergency procedures (i.e. fire, tornado, and lock down drills).
- Attends the workplace regularly as per the defined work schedule and reports to work punctually.
- Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Central Texas College.
- Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College's Strategic Plan.
- Participates in the process for systematic review and evaluation per the institutional effectiveness model adopted by the College.
- Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the department and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES
- Successful completion of Texas DFPS Licensing Division Background Check.
