Job Description
Position Summary The Simon Brothers Cafe is looking for a dependable and hardworking Grill Cook and Expo to join our cafe team in Roosevelt. This position is responsible for preparing food on the grill, helping coordinate completed orders, and ensuring food is prepared accurately and efficiently before it reaches the customer. The ideal candidate can work in a fast-paced environment, manage several tasks at once, communicate well with coworkers, and stay organized during busy periods. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. ServSafe training or certification is also preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items on the grill according to established recipes and procedures. Manage multiple orders and cooking times during busy meal periods. Ensure food is cooked properly and consistently. Monitor ticket times and help keep orders moving efficiently. Serve as an expo by checking completed orders for accuracy and presentation before they are served. Verify that each order includes the correct food items, sides, condiments, and special requests. Communicate with cooks and front-of-house employees to resolve missing or incorrect items. Prioritize orders to help maintain timely service. Prepare ingredients and complete food-prep duties as needed. Maintain a clean and organized grill and expo area. Follow proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures. Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products. Clean cooking equipment, utensils, counters, and kitchen areas throughout the shift. Assist with opening and closing duties. Help with dishes, cleaning, stocking, and other cafe responsibilities when needed. Follow all company food-safety and workplace-safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous grill, restaurant, cafe, or food-service experience is preferred but not required. ServSafe certification or previous ServSafe training is preferred. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask and manage several orders at one time. Strong attention to detail and order accuracy. Ability to communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house employees. Ability to stay calm and organized during busy periods. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Willingness to learn and accept instruction and feedback. Ability to work the scheduled Wednesday through Saturday hours. Physical Requirements Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull. Safely lift and carry food products, cookware, supplies, and other kitchen items. Work around hot grills, fryers, ovens, steam, and other commercial kitchen equipment. Safely use knives, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment. Work in a fast-paced environment where floors may occasionally be wet or slippery. What We Are Looking For Be dependable and show up ready to work. Work with a sense of urgency while maintaining food quality and safety. Be able to keep track of several orders at once. Communicate clearly with the rest of the kitchen and service team. Pay close attention to order accuracy. Keep their workstation clean and organized. Be willing to help wherever needed. Take pride in serving customers a quality meal. Experience is a plus, but dependability, attitude, and willingness to learn are equally important.
