This position is for someone who understands the importance of preparation in a busy restaurant kitchen. You must be able to follow recipes accurately, maintain consistent quality, complete assigned prep within the required time, and keep your workspace clean and organized. We are strengthening our kitchen systems and are looking for dependable cooks who take ownership of their work and hold themselves to high standards. If you take pride in preparing food correctly, move with purpose, and can work independently without constant supervision, you may be a strong fit for our team.
Compensation and Schedule Pay:
$14
  • 16 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated performance
Position:
Full-time and part-time positions available Full-time hours: Approximately 38-40 hours per week, with additional hours when business needs require them Part-time hours: Approximately 15-20 hours per week
Availability:
Weekend and holiday availability is required Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to report to work consistently and on time Key Responsibilities Food Preparation and Recipe Execution Complete daily prep lists accurately and within the required time Prepare ingredients and menu components according to established recipes, portions, and quality standards Perform high-volume chopping, slicing, peeling, measuring, mixing, marinating, and portioning Prepare sauces, proteins, vegetables, starches, and other components as assigned Scale recipes correctly and maintain consistency from one batch to the next Identify and report product shortages or quality concerns promptly Speed, Accuracy, and Productivity Work with urgency while maintaining quality and food-safety standards Organize tasks efficiently and prioritize prep according to production needs Produce consistent quantities and portions while minimizing waste Meet established prep-time and production expectations Remain productive throughout the shift without requiring constant direction Workspace Ownership Set up the prep area with the necessary ingredients, tools, containers, and equipment Keep the workstation clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift Clean and sanitize equipment and work surfaces after each task Return ingredients and equipment to their proper locations Complete all assigned cleaning and closing responsibilities before leaving Food Safety and Product Organization Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination procedures Label, date, store, and rotate all products correctly using FIFO Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, cooling, storage, and reheating Follow established procedures for allergen awareness and safe food handling Help maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen Notify management immediately of spoiled, damaged, improperly stored, or unsafe products Teamwork and Communication Communicate clearly with kitchen managers and other BOH employees Coordinate with line cooks to ensure necessary products are prepared and available Ask questions when instructions or recipes are unclear Respond professionally to corrections and direction Assist with other kitchen responsibilities when necessary Required Qualifications At least two years of prep-cook experience in a high-volume restaurant kitchen Strong knife skills and experience with high-volume food preparation Ability to follow written recipes, measurements, portions, and production instructions Ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy, cleanliness, or quality Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Dependable attendance and consistent punctuality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to stand for extended shifts and repeatedly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds Current Food Handler Certification Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing Cuban, Caribbean, or Latin cuisine Experience with large-batch food production Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and food processors Bilingual in English and Spanish What Success Looks Like A successful Prep Cook at Café
