In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of young children while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Duties Prepare and cook balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans Plan weekly menus that incorporate nutritious ingredients, catering to various dietary restrictions and preferences Ensure food safety standards are strictly followed during food handling, storage, preparation, and serving processes Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly Assist with food portioning and serving to preschool children in a friendly and efficient manner Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth food service operations Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and place orders as needed to ensure continuous meal availability Qualifications Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service within a commercial or institutional setting Strong knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling techniques Experience working in dietary departments or with dietary aide responsibilities is highly desirable Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering for groups of children or similar age groups Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic culinary techniques Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Previous restaurant experience or kitchen experience in the food industry is advantageous Passion for promoting healthy eating habits among young children and supporting their nutritional needs Join us as a Preschool Cook and play a crucial role in nurturing young minds through wholesome meals!
