In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that support the health and development of young children. Your culinary expertise will help foster a positive dining experience, ensuring safety, variety, and adherence to dietary guidelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine culinary skills with a caring approach to nurture young minds and bodies through wholesome food. Duties Prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks tailored to preschool-aged children, following established menus and dietary guidelines Plan menus that incorporate diverse flavors, textures, and nutritional requirements, including special dietary needs Ensure all food handling, preparation, and serving practices meet strict food safety standards and sanitizing procedures Operate kitchen equipment efficiently and safely, including ovens, mixers, blenders, and food processors Maintain high-volume food production while adhering to recipe specifications and portion control Assist with food presentation to make meals visually appealing for young children Follow proper food storage procedures, including braising, poaching, grilling, and other cooking techniques to maximize flavor and nutrition Support dietary department initiatives by maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen area and sanitizing all surfaces regularly Experience Previous experience working in dietary or food service roles within childcare facilities or similar environments is highly preferred Demonstrated knowledge of menu planning, food preparation techniques such as braising, poaching, grilling, and knife skills Experience in high-volume production settings like restaurants or catering environments is advantageous Familiarity with food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures in a commercial kitchen setting Strong understanding of dietary restrictions, allergy management, and special meal accommodations for children Culinary experience in fine dining or the food industry enhances the ability to create appealing meals for young learners Proven ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment Join us as a Preschool Cook where your culinary talents will directly impact the health and happiness of our children!
