Discovery Kids Riverton is looking for a dependable, energetic, and hardworking Child Care Cook / Kitchen Assistant to become part of our team! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working around children, takes pride in keeping things clean and organized, and wants to play an important role in creating a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for children and staff. What You'll Do As our Cook / Kitchen Assistant, you'll help keep our children well-fed and our center running smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children. Following all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary throughout the day. Washing dishes and thoroughly cleaning food preparation areas. Completing daily cleaning and sanitation throughout the center, including assigned classrooms, common areas, and other designated spaces. Completing weekly deep-cleaning tasks to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming center. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and taking pride in the overall appearance of the facility. Monitoring food and kitchen supplies and creating grocery lists. Communicating inventory needs to management. Receiving, organizing, and properly storing food deliveries. Safely transporting children to and from schools. Picking up food from our sister center using the center's 14-passenger transit van. Assisting the center team with additional tasks and operational needs as needed. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day. Comfortable working independently and taking initiative. Someone who genuinely takes pride in cleanliness and organization. Comfortable with both routine daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning. Positive, energetic, and comfortable working in a busy child care environment. Experienced in food preparation, cooking, or child care nutrition preferred, but not required. Able to pass all required background checks. Able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods. Comfortable driving a 14-passenger transit van and meeting all requirements for transporting children. Why Join Discovery Kids?
