Childcare Kitchen Manager Callahan Learning Center is hiring a Cook in our multiple locations. We are looking for a qualified cook to prepare and serve nutritious, appealing and healthy food for small children. You'll also help out in our classrooms where you will help prepare children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education! The ideal candidate must have a great love and patience for children as well as the ability to cook for them according to Health Department regulations. Qualifications include knowledge of cooking and preparing meals and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, as well as the ability to engage children to earn their trust and attention while in the classroom. Monitoring supply inventory to place additional supply orders with food vendor. Washing dishes, cleaning and organizing kitchen in compliance with Health department regulations and food safety training Maintaining food safety training and certifications such as ServSafe. Completing laundry tasks for the center Making special accommodations for allergies. Making special accommodations for center events and lessons that may involve cooking projects. Classroom Responsibilities Create a classroom environment that addresses the needs of the whole child, fosters children's natural curiosity, and prepares them for kindergarten. Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, etc.) to teach children. Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem. Encourage and teach children to interact well with their peers and teachers. Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum. Organize naps and mealtimes. Supervise children to always ensure their safety. Track children's progress and engage parents digitally while in the classroom. Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche. Collaborate with other team members. Establish a positive relationship with children, families, co-workers and center managers. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with Virginia health, safety, and childcare standards.
