Do you love creating great food and working with a team that takes pride in every meal? Covenant Woods is looking for a talented and dependable Full-Time and Part-Time Cooks to help prepare delicious, high-quality meals for our residents and special events. If you're passionate about cooking, food safety, and providing exceptional service, we'd love to meet you!
Schedule:
Full-time 6:30 am - 3:00 pm Every other weekend off Part-time 6:30 am -3:00 pm Saturday and Sunday, One day during the week. Additional hours available as needed. Every other weekend off What You'll Do As a Cook, you'll work alongside our culinary team to prepare and present a variety of menu items while maintaining the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing, cooking, and portioning meals under the direction of the Chef Working a variety of stations, including sauté, fry, braising, and salad preparation Ensuring all food is cooked, held, and stored at proper temperatures Recording temperatures and following all food safety and sanitation procedures Keeping kitchens, workstations, equipment, coolers, and storage areas clean and organized Properly labeling, dating, and storing food products Supporting meal service for daily dining and special events Following all Virginia Department of Health regulations and ServSafe® standards Providing outstanding service while embracing Covenant Woods' commitment to excellence What We're Looking For Previous commercial cooking experience preferred Experience with basic cooking techniques, including sautéing, frying, braising, and salad preparation ServSafe® Certification (or ability to obtain) Strong attention to food safety and sanitation Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and kitchen procedures Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Ability to communicate well with residents and co-workers. Ability to prepare all breakfast and lunch items to order, including eggs, pancakes, French toast, breakfast meats, hot cereals and sandwiches and salads according to resident preferences and diet orders Must be able to multitask Strong oral and written communication skills in English. ServSafe certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical condition to tolerate standing for long periods: bending, reaching, carrying and lifting up to 25lbs. and pushing up to 200 lbs. Regularly necessary to talk, hear, taste and smell. Specific vision requirements include distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequent exposure to hot & cold work areas, wet & humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and mildly abrasive chemicals.
