Job Description

The Hot Side Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and quality standards. This role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and supporting the overall efficiency of the kitchen. Hot Side Cooks must demonstrate strong attention to detail, consistency in preparation, and a commitment to food safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients and stations for service, following prep lists and recipes as found in the Tavern Back of House Manual Cook menu items to order, ensuring quality, portion control, and presentation Set up and stock prep stations with necessary supplies Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory Communicate effectively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate orders Handle kitchen equipment safely and correctly Support other stations or tasks as needed Create daily specials and make daily soup Use the handheld POS to cash out To Go orders at the backdoor and process payments and provide correct change or receipts as needed Take out trash, recycling, and compost as needed Clean floors, surfaces, and complete opening and closing duties as assigned Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous kitchen or line cook experience preferred Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment Strong work ethic and a team-oriented mindset Strong communication and time-management skills Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
