Job Description
Assistant Cook - 8.0 hours/day @ Othello High School (Primary Location) Job Description Prepare and cook food items in compliance with mandated nutritional requirements. Modify recipes to meet meal standards, verify quality of food items and supplies, and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Complete and maintain daily electronic production records accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain safety logs in accordance with local, state and federal health regulations. Operate and clean kitchen equipment according to established procedures and safety standards. Assist the Head Cook with ordering food and supplies and managing inventory to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize waste. Scan student meals using current district point-of-sale software. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Work additional hours and perform work related duties at other building locations as requested by the Dining Services Director. Minimum Qualifications High School graduate, or GED. Completion of competency skill test (Head/Asst. Cook test) with a minimum passing score of 80%. Ability to accurately compute basic math functions, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Able to maintain personal hygiene that meets and/or exceeds food service standards. Must obtain food handlers permit within 5 days of employment and maintain current card status thereafter. Ability to learn and operate a computer system with proficiency. Knowledge and experience with Google applications: Gmail, Google Docs, etc. Able to set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements. Physically able to lift and/or move up to 30-50 pounds frequently. Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more. Ability to work safely with and around hot surfaces. Leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
