Job Description
As a cook for a child care center, your responsibilities typically include: 1. Planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in the center, taking into consideration any dietary restrictions or allergies. 2. Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining area. 3. Ensuring that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are adhered to. 4. Keeping inventory of food and supplies and ordering new items as needed. 5. Providing input for menu planning based on feedback from the center staff and children. 6. Monitoring food costs and staying within budget. 7. Keeping up with current nutritional research and trends to provide the healthiest, most balanced meals possible. 8. Interacting with children, encouraging healthy eating habits and modeling positive mealtime behavior. In addition to the above duties, a cook in a child care center may also be responsible for Laundry, cleaning and coordinating special food-related events or activities. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking and a strong knowledge of food preparation, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. They should also be comfortable working with children and have a positive attitude towards promoting healthy eating and nutrition. They should be able to handle going up and downstairs multiple times a day while carrying items.
