Utility/Car Cleaner

Position Summary:

This position is a labor and/or relief position, and is occupied by one person in the Warehouse Department who reports to the Warehouse Supervisor. The person in this position shall be capable of relieving personnel in the Plant and, when not doing so, have responsibility for inspecting and preparing rail cars for loading, besides maintaining an assigned area in a clean, sanitary condition at all times. This Position does rotate all (3) shifts.

Essential Job Duties:

• Maintains essential plant equipment
• Cleans and prepares cars for loading
• Trains in different job functions around the plant
• Routinely observes and reports to the Dept. manager information she/he needs to ensure the preservation of the physical facility, including all utilities, pumps, compressors, boilers, roofs, etc.
• Ability to run analytical tests to ensure the product is within specification
• Ensures equipment stays in optimal repair and knows when to shut down to perform maintenance activities
• Ability to tell when to turn down a rail car that is out of specification on cleaning
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education:

H.S. diploma or

GED Experience:

Working in a manufacturing environment would be preferred, but not required. Other (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Ability to stand for particularly sustained periods of time; frequent walking, reaching, pulling, stooping, lifting, pushing, grasping, climbing, and balancing. Ability to understand, remember, and apply instructions; ability to apply common sense in performing job duties along with making decisions and communicating. Must be able to compose letters, outlines, memos, and basic reporting. The facility runs 24/7. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and able to work rotating shifts.
