doc Information for Applicants 2026.docx Car Park Cleaner Job description We are currently seeking a highly motivated Car Park Cleaner to join the Parking Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping the Council's car parks and Bus Station clean and tidy, and providing excellent customer service to the public. You will be required to use heavy duty cleaning equipment like a ride-on scrubber / sweeper and other mechanical cleaning equipment, such as a pressure washer. You must be able to work outside. You will be required to complete a range of physical tasks, such as scrubbing lobbies and stairwells, working outdoors in all weathers (full uniform and training will be provided). Whilst the multistorey car parks are covered, they are open to the elements and get very cold and windy for several months of the year. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in dealing with the public. The successful candidate will operate as part of a team but the ability to work independently is essential in what can be a physically demanding role. You will be required to work on a rota / shift system which will include mostly evening working and may include weekend and Bank Holiday working as demand requires, however you would receive weekend / evening enhancements where applicable.
Key responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly clean all areas of the car parks, including the parking decks, concrete floors, multistorey stairwells, glazed areas, ceilings and lifts (and the City Bus Station as required).
  • Report any defects or damage discovered to the Supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete daily reports of activities completed.
  • Ensure that the car parks are kept in a safe and clean condition for users.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience of industrial / commercial type cleaning in a large building / warehouse type environment, recording and maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner, in accordance with Council's Equality, Diversity & Human Rights Policy.
  • Experience of using own initiative and the ability to work as part of a team as well as working on your own.
Benefits we offer:
  • Flexible working options / Flexi time scheme.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays.
  • Local government pension scheme.
  • Employee online discount scheme (including cinema, retail / supermarkets and homeware / tech).
  • Health and Wellbeing support.
  • Sustainable Travel Options (Tax free bike scheme and discounted City parking).
