Job Description

Full-Time Hands-On Leadership Role Hinderer Motor Company is seeking an experienced Detail Manager to lead and actively support our vehicle detailing operation. This is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk-only role. This is a working supervisor (Manager) position that requires hands-on involvement alongside the team. The Detail Manager must have prior automotive detailing experience and be willing to train, assist, and personally detail vehicles when needed, especially during peak workload periods. This role is ideal for a detail professional ready to lead a team while maintaining high standards of vehicle appearance and efficiency in a fast-paced dealership environment.
What You'll Do:
Detail Operations & Workflow Oversee daily detailing operations for retail deliveries, service vehicles, and inventory Assign work and manage priorities to meet delivery and presentation deadlines Step in to assist with detailing work during peak hours or staffing gaps Maintain consistent interior and exterior detailing standards across all vehicles Ensure proper use, storage, and care of detailing tools, chemicals, and equipment Hands-On Leadership & Training, coach, and mentor detail team members on proper detailing techniques Lead by example through active participation in detailing work when required. Set clear expectations for quality, productivity, and professionalism Support the team directly when volume demands it Quality Control Inspect completed vehicles prior to delivery or lot placement Address quality issues immediately and coach team members to prevent rework Ensure vehicles meet dealership appearance and customer-ready standards Organization & Safety Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized detail department, ensuring all employees are in proper uniform and wearing appropriate gear for all seasons, including jackets, footwear, and headwear. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines Monitor supplies and communicate needs to management Communication & Coordination Coordinate closely with Service, Sales, and Management to prioritize vehicles Provide clear status updates and support smooth customer deliveries What We're Looking For (Required) Prior hands-on automotive detailing experience is required Ability and willingness to personally detail vehicles when needed Experience training or leading others in a detail environment preferred Strong work ethic with pride in vehicle appearance and quality Organized, dependable, and comfortable in a fast-paced dealership setting Valid driver's license required
