About Constellation Constellation runs an independent research center in Berkeley, CA bringing together AI safety researchers, scholars, and builders from across academia, industry, and government — all under one roof. Our kitchen serves 150-220+ people daily with healthy, diverse meals, and we've seen firsthand how great meals bring people together, spark conversation, and keep the community energized and productive. About the role Our kitchen is a high-volume, team-driven operation and we're looking for an experienced dishwasher and kitchen support professional who takes pride in their work. If you've held up a busy commercial kitchen before, you'll fit right in. What you'll do Dishwashing & sanitation Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently Maintain proper water temperatures, chemical levels, and sanitation standards Wash, sanitize, and store all dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware Follow all health department regulations and HACCP protocols Kitchen cleaning Deep clean equipment, surfaces, and floors on a rotating schedule Maintain organized walk-in coolers, freezers, and storage areas Manage trash, waste disposal, and recycling programs Support opening and closing kitchen procedures Food prep support Assist with vegetable prep: washing, peeling, and chopping Help prepare ingredients for large-scale international menus Receive and properly store incoming deliveries Support buffet setup and breakdown for events What we're looking for Required Minimum 2-3 years of commercial dishwashing in a high-volume operation Proven experience with kitchen cleaning and sanitation standards Basic knife skills and vegetable prep experience Working knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Reliable attendance and punctuality Basic English communication skills Preferred Experience in institutional or educational food service Familiarity with international cuisines and diverse dietary requirements Food Handler's Certification (or willingness to obtain — we'll support you) Work Details Full-time, 40 hours per week Weekdays, some weekend events Commercial kitchen environment Fast-paced during meal times Compensation & Benefits Good pay based on your experience: $21-25/hr Health insurance and benefits Paid time off and holidays Training and growth opportunities Great team to work with Chance to be part of something meaningful How to Apply Send us your resume and a short note about your kitchen experience and why you'd like to work with us.
