This position plays an essential role in keeping daily operations running smoothly by ensuring dishes, cookware, equipment, and work areas are properly cleaned and sanitized. The ideal candidate works efficiently, takes pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards, and is willing to assist the kitchen team wherever needed. Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate. Responsibilities Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, glassware, cookware, and kitchen tools Wash items by hand when necessary and ensure all items are properly cleaned before being stored Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the dish area, kitchen, storage areas, and employee workspaces Sweep, mop, remove trash, and clean floors, drains, walls, work surfaces, and equipment as assigned Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners throughout the shift Organize and properly store clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen supplies Restock dishware, glassware, utensils, and cleaning supplies as needed Assist with unloading and organizing deliveries Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation or ingredient organization when requested Assist with cleaning dining or service areas when needed Follow all food safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, and workplace safety procedures Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management Complete assigned opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties Perform additional tasks as assigned by management Qualifications Previous restaurant, kitchen, dishwashing, porter, or food-service experience is preferred but not required Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work pace Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team Willingness to assist in different areas of the kitchen as needed Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment Basic knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices is preferred Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other high-volume periods Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed Ability to work around heat, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, and wet or slippery surfaces Ability to safely move heavy supplies, trash containers, dish racks, and kitchen equipment What We Offer Competitive hourly pay Flexible scheduling Opportunities for growth and advancement Staff meals and employee discounts Supportive and team-oriented work environment Join our team and help us maintain the clean, organized, and efficient kitchen needed to deliver an excellent dining experience to every guest.
