Job Description

Position Summary The Dishwasher position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for plateware, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe, and sanitary facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Operates an industrial dishwasher, in accordance with specifications. Rinse all dishes, removing food particles, prior to placing them in the industrial dishwasher. Wash dishes by hand in accordance with restaurant policy or as directed by the Head Chef. Maintain kitchen work areas, and equipment in clean and orderly conditions. Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment. Execute proper sanitation practices and safety procedures, including sanitizing utensils. Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas. Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies. Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine. Sort and stack clean dishes; carry clean dishes to the cook's line and other proper storage areas; rewash soiled dishes before delivering. Remove trash and garbage and place in the dumpster. Perform opening, closing, and side work, as needed or directed by General Manager or the Head Chef. Clean and roll/unroll mats. Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Sweep/mop floors. Sweep up trash around the exterior of the restaurant and garbage dumpster. Perform general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed. Wipe up any spills or clean up any breakage to ensure kitchen floors remain dry and safe. Notify the manager on duty anytime the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy. Basic reading skills. Must be able to read and follow labels on chemicals. Excellent interpersonal skills. Well-organized. Multi-task oriented. Comply and execute all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures. Promote a positive and collaborative employee culture designed to support customer needs. Education and Experience No previous Dishwasher experience is necessary. Depending on experience, could be required to shadow another Dishwasher as training.
