In this energetic position, you will ensure all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to uphold the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. Your contribution helps keep the kitchen running smoothly, allowing chefs and food service staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop foundational kitchen skills while working in a fast-paced, hospitality-focused setting. Responsibilities Efficiently wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using proper cleaning techniques and sanitizing procedures. Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including basic chopping or ingredient handling under supervision. Support the bussing team by clearing tables and removing used dishware from dining areas promptly. Follow all food safety management protocols to ensure cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, sinks, and other cleaning tools while adhering to health and safety standards. Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting of large pots or crates of supplies with proper technique to prevent injury. Maintain sanitation standards by regularly cleaning workstations, floors, and storage areas in compliance with restaurant health regulations. Qualifications Prior food service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn is essential. Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards within a commercial kitchen environment. Ability to perform manual handling tasks including lifting heavy items safely. Basic understanding of operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and sinks. Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and adherence to kitchen health and safety standards. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards supporting culinary staff and maintaining a clean workspace. Experience with food handling or catering is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate.
