Job Description

Position Summary West Ascension Parish Hospital is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Kitchen Aide to support daily operations in a busy hospital kitchen. This position plays an important role in helping maintain a clean, organized, fast-paced, and safe food service environment while assisting with meal preparation, tray assembly, dishwashing, sanitation, and general kitchen support. The ideal candidate will work efficiently, follow safety and sanitation standards, and contribute to a positive team-focused atmosphere. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with basic food preparation as assigned Prepare and organize patient trays, utensils, and meal service items Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation areas, dish room, storage areas, and dining spaces Stock supplies, food items, beverages, and disposable products as needed Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries in accordance with food safety guidelines Remove trash and maintain clean and orderly work areas throughout the shift Follow all hospital, dietary, safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures Support meal service for patients, staff, and visitors in a timely and courteous manner Work cooperatively with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Supervisor Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous kitchen, food service, hospital, or restaurant experience preferred, but not required Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Strong work ethic and dependable attendance Ability to maintain professionalism and teamwork in a busy hospital setting Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation practices Ability to work quickly, safely, and efficiently Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull throughout the workday Must be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds, with or without assistance Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, and fast-paced kitchen conditions Work Environment This position works in a busy hospital kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, and wet floors. Safe work practices, proper sanitation, and teamwork are essential to success in this role.
