Job Description
Utility Worker Job Summary We are looking for dependable Utility Workers to support daily kitchen and dining operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑organized environment. This role is essential to the success of our food service operation and focuses on sanitation, dishwashing, restocking supplies, and general support for the kitchen and dining teams. The ideal candidate enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in cleanliness, and thrives in a fast‑paced setting. Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks to maintain a hygienic food preparation environment Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors to ensure a clean and safe facility Remove trash and garbage promptly and dispose of it in designated areas Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchenware by hand or operate commercial dishwashing equipment Restock essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and other cleaning and service items Follow all food handling, preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures Apply proper sanitation practices in all cleaning and food service tasks Assist with basic food preparation or cooking tasks as needed Provide friendly and professional customer service in the dining area Safely and correctly use all cleaning equipment, kitchen utensils, and tools Work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety Be open to working overtime as operational needs require Required Skills & Experience Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred Knowledge of basic sanitation, food handling, and safety practices At least 6 months of experience as a food handler 1-2+ years of experience working in a fast‑paced environment Familiarity with common kitchen utensils and cleaning procedures Ability to stand and remain active for the entire shift Reliable work history, with at least one year at a prior or current employer Willingness to work overtime when available Additional Qualifications (Preferred) Customer service experience in a food service or dining environment Experience with basic food preparation or cooking Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic Why Work With Us? Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Work performed primarily on your feet throughout the shift Frequent cleaning, dishwashing, and restocking in a busy setting Required adherence to all safety and sanitation standards Non‑slip shoes required Standard uniform includes a black shirt and appropriate kitchen footwear Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.20 - $29.20/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
