The Fort Worth Club's Culinary Team has an opening for an Executive Steward to lead our Steward and Janitorial teams at the oldest, private, member-owned club in Texas, ranked 5th amongst city clubs nationwide by Platinum Clubs of America. Job Description The Executive Steward is responsible for leading, supervising, and supporting the Steward and Janitorial teams to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and efficiency throughout the Club's kitchen and service areas. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Executive Steward will oversee the daily work of Stewards and Janitors while also performing Steward duties as needed to maintain consistent standards and ensure the team is fully supported. The ability to lead by example, communicate effectively, remain composed under pressure, and hold themselves and others accountable is essential. Adapting to The Fort Worth Club's Platinum Standards is a must. The Executive Steward plays an important role in supporting the Culinary Team and ensuring that our kitchens, equipment, supplies, and work areas are maintained to the standards expected by our members and guests. What You'll Do Leadership & Team Management Supervise, direct, and support Stewards and Janitors to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized work environment. Lead by example by maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, professionalism, and work ethic. Oversee the daily duties and performance of Stewards and Janitors, ensuring assigned responsibilities are completed properly and consistently. Provide direction and assistance to team members and step in to perform Steward duties when necessary. Fill in when needed when another Steward is unable to work, helping ensure adequate coverage and consistent service. Communicate effectively with Stewards, Janitors, Chefs, Sous Chefs, and other Club staff. Address problems or concerns promptly and professionally and maintain composure during high-stress situations. Promote a cooperative team environment where employees are treated with respect and held accountable to Club standards. Supplies, Chemicals & Organization Monitor paper and chemical supplies to ensure adequate inventory without unnecessary overstocking. Complete supply order sheets and submit them to Purchasing at least two days prior to supplies being needed. Keep paper and chemical storage shelves and closets clean, organized, and properly stocked. Ensure all spray bottles are properly labeled and that the correct chemicals are being used for the appropriate task. Monitor chemical usage to ensure the proper product and proper amount are being used safely and effectively. Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are maintained in their proper locations. Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation Oversee and assist with dishwashing operations to ensure dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and other equipment are properly washed, sanitized, and stored. Ensure the dish area remains clean, organized, and efficient throughout the day. Ensure the dish machine is properly drained, cleaned, and refilled according to usage—every two hours during heavy use or every three hours during light use. Monitor wash, rinse, and sanitize water in three-compartment sinks to ensure proper temperatures and appropriate soap and sanitizer levels. Ensure proper test strips for the dish machine are available, properly stored, and easily accessible. Complete the Dish Temperature Log once each day. Keep drains clean and treat them as needed to maintain proper sanitation and prevent issues. Personally clean hand sinks and check and refill soap and towel dispensers daily. Oversee and assist with cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the kitchen and related work areas. Maintenance & Communication Monitor the kitchen and work areas for equipment, plumbing, drainage, or other maintenance concerns. Report maintenance issues promptly to the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef. Monitor processes, equipment, supplies, and work areas to identify potential problems before they become larger issues. Ensure established Club procedures for sanitation, chemical use, equipment operation, and cleanliness are consistently followed. Education and Experience Previous experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant, hotel, private club, or similar food service environment is preferred. Previous supervisory or lead experience is strongly preferred. A current Nationally Recognized Food Handler's Card is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment, leading or mentoring team members, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, and taking ownership of daily responsibilities. Schedule will be based on Club operations and business needs and may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional extended hours during peak business periods.
