Job Description
JOB The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for multiple part-time, temporary seasonal (PTS) Sports Attendants and Recreation Leaders in the Recreation division. Under the direction of the Program Specialist, Recreation Coordinator, and Recreation Supervisor, these positions work directly with the Youth Sports Recreation Program to provide a variety of quality recreational programs and events in a safe and fun environment. These positions may work up to 20 hours per week and are required to work various hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. PTS Sports Attendant $17.53 per hour Duties and Responsibilities Works with staff to effectively provide quality recreation programs Assists in the implementation of programs, leagues, and events Responsible for scorekeeping and accurately recording and maintaining documentation for a variety of sports activities Provides on-site customer service by greeting program participants and responding to general inquiries regarding programs and services Assists in the operations, set-up, and clean-up of sports facilities and programs Assists with organizing supplies and equipment bags for staff and coaches Responds to emergencies as needed; reports incidents and accidents to appropriate staff Organizes, prioritizes, and follows up on work assignments Attends meetings and training sessions as required Supervises children as assigned Assists with the operation of other program areas, such as the Gymnasium, as requested Performs other duties and activities as directed Education and Experience Experience volunteering or working with Iin the field of recreation, including sports programming and facility operations, or other related experience is highly desirable Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certifications Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered ______________________________________________________________________________________________ PTS Recreation Leader I $18.06 - $19.16 per hour PTS Recreation Leader I includes all of the responsibilities of the Sports Attendant, in addition to the following: Duties and Responsibilities Uses registration software to process registration and produce membership cards Assists with money-handling, including payments Provides customer service to program participants and the general public, including responding to public inquiries, providing accurate program information, and fulfilling customer needs over the phone and through email Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent Six months of volunteer or work experience in the field of recreation, including sports programming and facility operations, or other related experience Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certifications Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered _____________________________________________________________________________________________ PTS Recreation Leader II $19.41 - $20.59 per hour PTS Recreation Leader II includes all of the responsibilities of the Recreation Leader I, in addition to the following: Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the coordination of programs, leagues, and events Assists in maintaining and creating program documents and files Leads opening and closing procedures; prepares facilities for use; assists in the organization, set-up, break-down, and clean-up of a variety of facilities and fields Operates City vehicles to drive to various locations throughout the City to deliver program supplies and equipment Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent One year of work experience in the field of recreation, including sports programming and facility operations, and other related experience Valid Class C California driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions may be required Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certifications Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered

In compliance with the California law, positions working with children are required to be mandated child abuse reporters. A mandated reporter is an individual who is obligated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109). Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need. In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment. This is not a designated Retired Annuitant position. If you are a California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) retiree, you may be required to reinstate into CalPERS. PTS
