Job Description

Position Summary The City of Tiffin is seeking friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Recreation Center Attendants to serve as the primary point of contact for patrons visiting the Tiffin Recreation Center. This part-time position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting patrons with memberships and registrations, monitoring facility usage, maintaining a welcoming environment, and supporting daily recreation center operations. The Recreation Center Attendant reports directly to the Recreation Coordinator and serves an important role in creating a positive experience for residents and visitors utilizing the facility. Customer Service and Front Desk Operations Greet patrons, guests, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Provide information regarding facility amenities, programs, memberships, rentals, and special events. Assist patrons with recreation program registrations and membership transactions. Answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, and direct patrons to appropriate staff. Resolve routine customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary. Membership and Facility Access Process membership sales, renewals, and guest passes. Verify memberships and monitor facility access procedures. Utilize recreation management software and point-of-sale systems. Maintain accurate membership and registration records. Assist with facility reservations and room rental inquiries. Facility Monitoring and Operations Monitor recreation center activity to promote a safe and welcoming environment. Conduct routine facility walkthroughs and report maintenance or safety concerns. Assist with opening and closing procedures. Ensure facility policies and rules are followed by patrons. Support special events, programs, and facility rentals as assigned. Cash Handling and Administrative Support Process payments for memberships, programs, rentals, and merchandise. Operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems. Balance cash drawers and follow established cash handling procedures. Assist with data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks. Maintain confidentiality of customer and membership information. Facility Appearance and Cleanliness Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming facility. Perform light housekeeping duties including wiping surfaces, organizing equipment, and maintaining front desk areas. Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors of replenishment needs. Assist with setup and cleanup for programs, meetings, and events. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service, retail, recreation, hospitality, or office experience preferred. Ability to obtain required certifications and training as assigned by the City. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn recreation management software. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a public-facing environment. Work Schedule This is a permanent part-time position. Work schedules may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on recreation center operating hours and staffing needs. Flexible scheduling may be available, including opportunities for high school students, college students, retirees, and individuals seeking supplemental employment. Physical Requirements The position requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and light lifting. Employees must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform routine facility monitoring and customer service duties.
