Onsite Job Summary In a manner consistent with the policies laid out by UMass Recreation and Wellbeing, the Departmental Assistant - RecWell Climbing will provide essential support for the smooth functioning of the department's operations. Essential Functions Assisting in coordinating various recreational and wellbeing programs, activities, and services. Providing detailed feedback to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation for Programs & Student Development for future improvements.
Administrative duties include:
Assisting with student payroll tracking and related HR functions. Coordination of student staffing to meet programmatic and operational needs. Assisting with the coordination of equipment replacement and maintenance. On-Site supervision includes, but not limited to: Providing logistical support to students. Evaluating and mentoring student staff continually. Troubleshooting issues as they arise. Other Functions Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Previous work experience in a climbing facility. Nationally accredited climbing certification (e.g. Single Pitch or Climbing Wall Instructor) within 30 days of employment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in an indoor university environment and involves lifting and transporting materials or equipment and general physical activity, including prolonged standing, walking, or assuming low postures. Work Schedule and Work Arrangement Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Salary Information Hourly Rate:
