Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Usher serves as a key member of the Peace Center's Front of House team and is responsible for supporting an exceptional guest experience while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patrons. Under the direction of the Director of Patron Services, this role provides event oversight, supports volunteer ushers, assists with venue readiness, and ensures adherence to organizational policies, safety procedures, and accessibility standards. Lead Ushers may be assigned to work in any of the Peace Center's venues, including the Peace Concert Hall, Gunter Theatre, The Mockingbird, Coach Music Factory, and The Pavilion.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direction and support to Front of House volunteer ushers during events. Assist with event setup and breakdown, including programs, placement of stanchions, signage, and other lobby materials. Conduct pre-event volunteer briefings and communicate event-specific information. Operate ticket scanning equipment and assist with guest entry procedures. Support guest service, accessibility, and wayfinding needs throughout events. Monitor venue readiness and promptly report safety concerns, operational issues, or incidents to management. Follow established emergency response, evacuation, and incident reporting procedures. Ensure adherence to Peace Center policies, procedures, and guest service standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in ushering, guest services, hospitality, event operations, or related field preferred. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in fast-paced environments. Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, guests, and visiting clients. Availability to work a minimum of 50% of monthly events and assignments across all Peace Center venues. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other event-driven schedules. Working knowledge of accessibility practices, crowd management, and venue operations is preferred.
