Summary:
Assists the Parks and Recreation Director in the overall operations of the Parks and Recreation Department, with a primary focus on the day-to-day operations, programming, and member services of the Coronado Fitness Center. Supports the development and delivery of fitness, wellness, aquatic, and recreational programs while providing assistance with other departmental facilities, parks, trails, events, and operations as assigned. Helps ensure outstanding customer service and a welcoming environment for property owners and guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in maintaining knowledge of Property Owners' Association (POA) policies, rules, and procedures related to Parks and Recreation facilities (with emphasis on the Coronado Fitness Center) and recommend revisions as necessary. Support the evaluation of Fitness Center programs, services, fees, and charges; assist the Director with broader Parks and Recreation program and fee evaluations as directed. Assist with the creation, scheduling, management, and promotion of group fitness classes, wellness programs, personal training coordination, aquatic fitness offerings, and related special events at the Coronado Fitness Center. Provide day-to-day coordinated support for Fitness Center operations, including member services, facility readiness, equipment oversight, and program delivery under the direction of the Director. Help evaluate and recommend additional fitness services, equipment, class formats, and facility improvements to best serve the recreational and wellness needs of the community. Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of the Fitness Center operating budget and related capital needs; support the Director with overall Parks and Recreation budget tracking as assigned. Plan, develop, and help manage comprehensive fitness and instructional programs; assist with special events and community programming across the department as needed. Support Fitness Center operations including daily reports, usage statistics, member communications, vendor coordination, inventory, and facility upkeep; assist the Director with broader departmental reports, contracts, leases, sponsorships, and personnel matters when directed. Respond to member and guest inquiries, compliments, and complaints; assist with rules enforcement at the Fitness Center and other Parks and Recreation facilities when assigned. Draft routine correspondence and assist with memos regarding POA policies, procedures, and directives as directed by the Director. Coordinate and support special projects related to the Fitness Center; assist the Director with other departmental special projects as assigned. Coordinate fitness and wellness programming in conjunction with outside instructors and organizations; act as a liaison with fitness-related community groups. Support the Director's broader liaison role with community and cultural organizations as needed. Assist with vendor and contract coordination for Fitness Center equipment, services, and programming. Support usage tracking, membership data review, and basic analysis related to Fitness Center participation and programs. May be required to drive a POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business. Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming Fitness Center environment; promptly report and coordinate maintenance, safety, and equipment issues with the Director and appropriate support staff. Assist with recruiting, scheduling, training, and day-to-day supervision of Fitness Center part-time staff, group fitness instructors, and lifeguards under the direction of the Director. Assist with facility management across Parks and Recreation facilities as assigned. Assist with event programming and execution for departmental and community events. Assist with trails and outdoor recreation operations and programming. Assist with bar supervision as assigned. Serve as liaison between members, business, and organizations that utilize facilities such as the PDL Center and Coronado Community Center. Assist with concert execution and related event operations. Assist with capital improvement planning, budget and execution of projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Will assist in the supervision of full and part-time staff, group fitness instructors, lifeguards, and volunteers as assigned to all areas of the Parks and Recreation Department. Carries out supervisory support responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws under the guidance of the Parks and Recreation Director. Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing and training staff, planning and assigning work, providing input on performance, and helping address complaints and resolve problems.

Experience:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, Business Management, or a related field preferred; or three to five years of related experience in fitness center operations, recreation programming, or facility management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to effectively articulate and present information and concepts to members, staff, upper management, public groups, and/or boards of directors in a professional and clear manner. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, procedures, and technical instructions.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret basic graphs. Ability to perform these operations using units of U.S. currency, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Requires a valid Arkansas driver's license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). Nationally recognized Personal Training certification, Group Fitness Instructor certification, and/or Aquatic certification strongly preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame after hire. Red Cross Lifeguard certification preferred or ability to obtain as directed.
