Job Summary:
The Fitness Center Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, strategic planning, and overall management of the fitness center. This includes leadership of staff, budgeting, programming, member services, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests, clients and members. The Director plays a key role in developing fitness and wellness programs that align with community needs and organizational goals.Key Responsibilities:
Facility Operations & Administration Develop and implement a comprehensive standard facility operations manual using Arch Amenities Group templates. Create monthly and annual management reports outlining key statistics, daily operations, and future recommendations. Ensure timely submission of financial reports, payroll, and all required documentation per company policy. Establish and maintain maintenance procedures and preventive care schedules for all equipment and facilities. Ensure secure facility access and enforce membership/guest policies. Staff Leadership & Development Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all staff across facility departments. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and manage schedules to meet budget goals. Conduct staff meetings and training workshops to ensure team knowledge and alignment with service standards. Coach employees, administer performance evaluations, and handle disciplinary actions when needed. Participate in and manage the Manager on Duty (MOD) schedule. Sales, Marketing & Member Engagement Create and implement marketing strategies and public relations campaigns to promote the facility, services, and programs. Lead initiatives to drive member recruitment and retention. Design promotional materials, flyers, and forms using provided templates. Conduct new member orientations and facility tours. Write press releases and articles for promotional purposes. Program Management Conduct fitness assessments, personal training sessions, and program orientations. Establish monthly personal training revenue goals and ensure effective promotion and tracking. Maintain quality control of all fitness programming including personal training and group exercise. Track facility usage and program participation to inform strategy. Guest Services & Safety Ensure excellent customer service and follow up on all guest feedback and requests. Monitor and respond to guest concerns using comment cards and feedback tools. Maintain safety standards and proper certifications across all staff. Prepare incident and accident reports and escalate them per protocol. Maintain bulletin boards and facility signage as needed. Inventory & Budget Management Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, and products. Ensure department operates within budgetary guidelines through efficient scheduling and resource management. Additional Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all safety standards and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Director.
