Job Description

The After School Director works at BREC recreation sites, developing, promoting and operating the after school enrichment program, coordinating recreational activities, supervising afterschool counselors, actively participates in daily attendance records.

Diploma Other:
Three years working with youth. Ability to plan and organize all aspects of afterschool; Physical ability to interact with children in recreational games setting for up to 2-3 hours a day; Knowledge of objectives and philosophy of afterschool program; Ability to work with youth, staff, parents, and general public; ability to motivate and encourage cooperation and teamwork; Ability to maintain accurate records and reports; Ability to adapt activities for children with disabilities so that inclusion (interaction with children with and without disabilities can participate together) can occur. Zoo/Biology/Zoology/Wildlife Management/Pre-Vet Horse Activity Center - considerable horseback riding experience Magnolia Mound - History/Archeology This is a responsible part-time position directing the operation of an organized afterschool program, reporting to the Center Supervisor. Duties include, but are not limited to: Scheduling and supervising afterschool counselors; Managing daily operation of enrichment curriculum established by BREC Administrative staff; Assisting supervisor with adjustments to curriculum as dictated by weather or unforeseen circumstances; Managing and supervising staff interaction with youth and interaction among staff; Relating programs and policies of the program; Active supervision of youth; Keeping accurate daily attendance records; Promoting, organizing and stimulating good relationships with between BREC and participant's parents; Interpreting and communicating the nature of the afterschool program and its recreation philosophy to individuals through enrichment activity and assignments.
