Job Description

The MetroWest YMCA Outdoor Center is seeking an energetic, organized, and mission-driven Seasonal Summer Aquatics Director to oversee all aquatics operations during the summer camp season at our beautiful 122-acre Outdoor Center in Hopkinton. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced outdoor environment, enjoys mentoring staff, and understands that aquatics is about far more than supervision. It is about teaching lifesaving skills, building confidence in the water, creating positive experiences for families, and ensuring every swimmer progresses in a safe and supportive environment. The Seasonal Aquatics Director will lead both the lifeguard and swim instruction teams, ensuring high-quality programming, strong communication, and consistent safety standards throughout the summer. This position requires flexible scheduling based on program needs. Expected schedule includes early mornings, some evenings, rotating weekends, and variable hours based on weather, staffing, lessons and camp schedules. This role requires adaptability, visibility, and a hands-on leadership approach throughout the summer session. Current Lifeguarding Certification required Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required Experience teaching swim lessons required Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), or Waterfront certification preferred Previous aquatics leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Ability to mentor and develop both lifeguards and swim instructors Comfortable working outdoors in an active summer camp environment
