Part-Time Musical Theater Director Description:
Hopkinton Center for the Arts is seeking an experienced and engaging musical theater director to lead our elementary age (2nd-4th grade) production of MTI's "Little Mermaid Kids". The production will perform May 1-2, 2027. The expectation is for the Director to hold a weekday late afternoon or early evening rehearsal and one weekend day rehearsal (for approximately 90-120 minutes each) starting mid-February 2027. The productions are generally capped at 30 students. Ideally this person will be able to teach the music, as well as stage the choreography.
Qualifications:
2+ years of relevant experience in children's musical theatre Previous experience working with young children, ideally in a theatrical or camp setting (references required) Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure Effective communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility in working with different experience levels, learning styles, age groups Valid driver's license with reliable vehicle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field
