Summary of Position:

The Student Manager for the Student Recreation Center is responsible for the overall operation of the recreational facility, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all students, members, and guests. This position involves overseeing student staff, managing programming, providing excellent customer service, enforcing policies and procedures, and following risk management procedures.

Position Requirements:

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to resolve conflict in a respectful manner.

Previous experience in leading or supervising peers and or fellow workers.

Must be able to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and at least 1 weekend a month.

As an individual who is handling money during your shift on behalf of the University, is required that Human Resources obtain your background check to determine your eligibility to handle money transactions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and inclusive for all students, members and guests.

Help enforce all policies regarding students and members for entering and leaving the facility.

Monitor and manage the use of recreational equipment and spaces.

Help with programming throughout the facility when called upon.

Open and close the cash register to the POS system each day.

Responsible for closing the drawer each night and batching out all credit cards.

Carryout all risk management procedures when needed.

Supervise, mentor, and support all student staff during scheduled shift.

Monitor staff responsibilities to ensure all tasks are being completed during shifts.

Foster a positive work environment.

Provide excellent customer service by addressing user inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.

Handle membership registrations and other administrative tasks related to user services.

Manage user access and ensure compliance with facility policies and procedure

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to facility operations, staff performance, and customer satisfaction.

Maintain accurate records of incidents and follow up as necessary.
