Job Description

Job Summary Haven Beach Club (HBC) is seeking an organized, energetic, and service-oriented General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our private club. This dynamic leadership role is responsible for managing staff, coordinating club programs and events, maintaining facilities, and ensuring an exceptional experience for members and guests. The General Manager works closely with the Board of Trustees and plays a key role in maintaining the welcoming community atmosphere that makes Haven Beach Club special. The ideal candidate is personable, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced summer environment. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the summer season, are required.
Schedule Pre-Season:
May 1•June 14 Approximately 10-12 hours per week
In Season:
June 15•September 1 Minimum 40 hours per week in July and August Daily opening responsibilities Schedule allows one weekend day off No more than two consecutive days off without Board approval
Post Season:
September 2•October 31 Approximately 10 hours per week
Off Season:
November 1•April 30 Approximately 2 hours per week Duties Staff Management Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff Maintain employee schedules, timekeeping, and payroll records Ensure employment contracts and certifications are on file Lead weekly staff meetings Oversee program leaders including the Sailing Director, Head Swim Coach, and Head Swim Instructor Member Services & Programs Enforce club rules and policies Respond to member and prospective member inquiries Coordinate swim and sailing programs, including meets and regattas Assist with weekly member communications Support volunteer coordination and committee activities Facilities Management Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper operation of all club facilities Manage rentals for boat slips, storage, lockers, and club space Conduct regular property walkthroughs to maintain facility standards Oversee trash removal and general upkeep of club grounds Business Operations Monitor operational spending in accordance with the club budget Coordinate financial tracking and reporting with the Treasurer and Board Provide operational reports at Board meetings Authorize operational purchases within established limits Event & Wedding Coordination Coordinate site visits and planning meetings with potential clients Manage event logistics and ensure vendor compliance Oversee day-of operations for club events and private rentals Certifications American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification American Red Cross First Aid Certification Skills Strong organizational and communication skills Leadership and staff management experience Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during peak season Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to operate power equipment Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Experience Experience in club management, hospitality, recreation management, or event coordination Experience supervising seasonal staff or youth programs is a plus
