Compensation & Benefits:
• $40,000 - $50,000 base salary $2,400 annual health stipend ($200/month) Dental and Vision insurance available after 60 days of employment

Position Summary The Assistant Aquatics Director (AAD) supports the Aquatics Director in planning, supervising, and delivering safe, high-quality aquatic programs across all Fitness Alive facilities. Working directly on-deck and in-person at our pool locations, the AAD acts as a champion for quality control and instructional consistency. The ideal candidate balances being an elite "lead coach" with stepping into operations, serving equally as a cheerleader for our coaching staff and an advocate for our clients to ensure company goals are met. Key Responsibilities On-Deck Leadership & Instructional Support Provide daily on-deck supervision of swim lessons and aquatics classes to ensure curriculum standards and safety protocols are met. Deliver and coordinate hands-on staff training and retraining on the Fitness Alive curriculum. Serve as the "lead coach" for partnership programs and camps, ensuring successful implementation alongside the coaching staff. Teach swim lessons for all ages and skill levels, enthusiastically stepping in to cover last-minute or emergency substitute needs. Operations, Data & Program Development Partner with the Aquatics Director to analyze student data, overseeing the report card process for weekly swimmers to track progression and retention. Support the refinement of swim curricula for kids, adults, and neurodivergent participants, as well as aquatic fitness classes and pre-competitive teams. Assist in developing and launching new program verticals and community outreach initiatives. Participate in weekly aquatics staff meetings and leadership check-ins. Team Management & Client Relations Assist with the hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and retention initiatives for the coaching staff. Provide excellent customer service to clients in person, via email, or over the phone, cheerfully resolving complaints and building strong relationships. Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture where staff members feel supported and motivated. Other Duties Execute other operational duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director or General Manager to support the growth of the business.
Job Requirements Experience & Qualifications Education & Compliance:
Bachelor's degree preferred; up-to-date background checks per Pennsylvania requirements are mandatory.
Aquatics Expertise:
Minimum of 2 years of aquatics experience, including high-level swim instruction for all ages (toddlers to adults) and skill levels.
Safety First:
Current Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of employment).
Leadership & Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to coach, mentor, and advocate for both staff and clients.
Tech Savvy:
Comfortable utilizing Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and adaptable to learning new management systems.
Schedule & Mobility In-Person Presence:
This is a fully in-person role requiring a daily presence on-deck or in-office, particularly during peak lesson hours (Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM).
Flexibility:
Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as business needs dictate.
Mobility:
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between our South Philadelphia and Center City locations.
