Our programs are rooted in strong technique, performance excellence, and creating meaningful experiences for our students and families. Our summer theater program is a major production experience for our students, and we are seeking a seasoned, dependable Musical Theater Director to lead it from start to finish. Position Overview We are looking for an experienced and highly organized Summer Musical Theater Director to oversee and execute our full summer production program. This is a contract role (May-August 2026) with the opportunity to transition into a long-term position for the right candidate. This role is responsible for bringing a full production to life , from initial planning through final performance, while creating a positive, structured, and educational environment for students of all ages and skill levels. Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee the full summer musical theater production Plan and lead auditions, casting, and callbacks Run rehearsals and production schedule efficiently and professionally Lead or coordinate summer workshops and training sessions Work with students ages 5 and up , adapting to a wide range of abilities Collaborate with staff on choreography, music direction, and production elements Ensure all students feel supported, challenged, and included Maintain clear and consistent communication with families and staff Oversee show elements including blocking, character development, and storytelling Ensure the final production meets a high-performance standard What We're Looking For Proven experience directing youth musical theater productions Strong leadership and classroom management skills Ability to work with both beginner and advanced performers Highly organized and able to manage timelines and logistics independently Professional, reliable, and communicative Passion for education-first programming (not just performance) Ability to create a positive, structured, and inspiring environment Background in theater, musical theater, or performing arts education preferred Schedule & Commitment Contract runs May-August 2026 Flexible planning hours + set rehearsal schedule (primarily evenings and weekends) Increased hours leading up to performances/Tech Week Compensation Pay is based on experience Potential for ongoing employment opportunities beyond summer Why This Role Matters This is more than just directing a show.
