Youth Musical Theatre Director Edge Dance & Performing Arts Center/ Twinkle Star Dance Academy Plano Plano, TX Job Details Part-time | Contract $25 - $35 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Experience teaching visual & performing arts Performing Arts Experience working with children Working with students Arts Full Job Description Youth Musical Theater Director Edge Dance & Performing Arts Center is seeking an experienced Youth Musical Theater Director to lead our educational musical theater program from audition through final curtain. This is not simply a teaching position, we are looking for someone who can confidently oversee every aspect of producing a youth musical while creating an encouraging, educational environment where every child has the opportunity to grow. What You'll Do You will be responsible for leading the production from start to finish, including: Planning and leading auditions Casting performers based on talent, potential, and program goals Creating rehearsal schedules and production timelines Blocking scenes and directing actors Teaching acting, stage presence, and character development Leading or coordinating vocal rehearsals Choreographing musical numbers (or collaborating with a choreographer when appropriate) Communicating weekly updates with families and staff Organizing props, costumes, rehearsal needs, and production logistics Running technical rehearsals Managing performances professionally and confidently Working independently while keeping studio leadership informed of progress We're Looking For Someone Who... Has experience directing full-length youth musicals Understands every phase of the production process Is highly organized and able to manage multiple moving pieces Can confidently lead rehearsals without constant supervision Creates a positive, structured, and encouraging rehearsal environment Loves working with children and teenagers Believes every student deserves to feel valued, included, and successful Teaches with patience, kindness, and respect while maintaining high expectations Can inspire young performers to grow both on and off the stage Communicates professionally with parents, students, and staff Qualifications Preferred candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: Musical theater direction Acting instruction Vocal direction Choreography Stage management Performing arts education Children's theater or educational theater programs A degree in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts, Music, Education, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent professional experience. Schedule Saturday Morning/Afternoons Additional rehearsals as productions require Seasonal position with opportunity for continued year-round programming About Our Program At Edge Dance & Performing Arts Center, we believe theater is about far more than putting on a great show.
