Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Pool Division Assistant Manager to help manage and grow one of our newer & smaller commercial construction divisions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in construction, estimating, project management, or commercial pools who is ready to take the next step into management and help build a division rather than simply fill a position within an established department. Our commercial pool division is still in an early stage of growth within our company, giving the right candidate an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how the division develops. You will work directly with company and division leadership while gaining hands-on experience across estimating, project execution, subcontractor management, purchasing, scheduling, job costing, and overall division operations. Our pool division primarily focuses on commercial projects throughout Texas and Florida, with additional opportunities in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, and other Gulf states. We will help teach the right candidate the nuances of each market. We build anything from regular pools to custom water feature for corporate campuses. This position is designed for someone who wants more responsibility, exposure to management, and the opportunity to grow with a developing business unit. As the division expands, we want this individual to expand with it and take on increasing responsibility for its people, projects, financial performance, and overall operations. The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every aspect of commercial pool construction on day one. We are looking for someone with strong construction fundamentals, attention to detail, leadership potential, and an entrepreneurial mindset who wants the opportunity to help build something. Key Responsibilities Assist with the day-to-day management and continued development of the commercial pool division . Work alongside division and company leadership to help establish processes, improve operations, and support the long-term growth of the division. Help oversee projects from preconstruction and estimating through construction, closeout, and final financial review. Support estimating and bidding of commercial pool projects, including gunite, plumbing, mechanical equipment, tile, decking, concrete, excavation, electrical, and finishes. Review architectural drawings, civil plans, pool plans, specifications, and scope documents. Prepare and/or review quantity takeoffs, subcontractor pricing, material pricing, and project budgets. Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers across key pool construction trades. Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Assist with procurement and ensure long-lead equipment and materials are identified and ordered appropriately. Monitor project costs, change orders, production, and gross margins throughout construction. Compare actual job costs against estimates and identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and project profitability. Help maintain and develop relationships with qualified subcontractors and suppliers throughout our markets. Conduct site visits and project reviews as needed to evaluate job conditions, access, scheduling, quality, and progress. Help maintain estimating databases, historical costs, subcontractor pricing, and standardized scopes. Assist division leadership with improving processes, accountability, and overall division performance. Take on increasing leadership and management responsibility as the pool division grows. Experience & Qualifications 2+ years of construction experience , preferably involving commercial pools, aquatics, concrete, sitework, mechanical systems, or specialty construction. Experience in estimating, project management, construction operations, or a combination of these areas. Commercial pool or aquatic construction experience is strongly preferred but not required for a candidate with strong construction fundamentals. Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, budgets, schedules, subcontractor management, and job costing. Familiarity with gunite pools, plumbing, pumps, filters, heaters, concrete, tile, electrical, and other pool-related scopes is a plus. Proficiency with Bluebeam and Excel ; experience with construction management or estimating software is a plus. Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and pool construction documents. Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams. Self-motivated and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced construction environment. Leadership potential and a desire to move into management. Interest in helping develop and grow a newer business unit rather than simply stepping into an established role.
