Job Description

Matern Staffing is hiring an Aquatics Director for a premier sports and swim facility in Stafford, VA. In this role, you'll lead aquatic operations, programming, and staff development while creating a safe, engaging experience for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Your leadership will directly support program growth, member satisfaction, and community engagement. As Aquatics Director, you'll oversee aquatic staff, pool operations, swim programming, and competitive events while supporting the facility's overall operational success. This is a direct hire leadership position reporting directly to the General Manager and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Salary:
$45,000-$50,000/yr

What You'll Do:
Lead all aquatic department operations, including pool programming, staffing, scheduling, and daily facility oversight Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of 20-30 lifeguards, instructors, and aquatic staff Develop and manage aquatic programs including swim lessons, lifeguarding, competitive swimming, community partnerships, and wellness initiatives Ensure compliance with all state and local pool safety, health, and operational regulations while maintaining proper pool functionality and equipment performance Oversee swim meets, competitions, and aquatic events, including coordination of timing systems and meet management software Support membership growth and retention by delivering high-quality aquatic experiences and exceptional customer service Develop department budgets, monitor financial performance, and analyze operational metrics to support department goals Serve as part of the leadership team by supporting special events, facility operations, and community engagement initiatives Provide hands-on support with swim instruction, coaching, or lifeguarding coverage as needed
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree or at least 1 year of previous related experience Experience supervising teams and leading aquatic operations, swim programs, competitive swimming, or community recreation environments Strong knowledge of pool operations, aquatic safety standards, and state/local compliance requirements Experience managing budgets, analyzing financial performance, and supporting operational goals Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Experience with swim meet operations, Hytek Meet Manager, and Colorado Timing Systems preferred Current Lifeguarding Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Pool Operator certifications required (or ability to maintain current certifications) Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed About the
