  • Full-time Opportunity Description Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Mitchell Activity Center Manager in Auxiliary Services.
Salary Range for this position is $73,367 to $101,315 annually (depending on experience). The anticipated starting salary for this position is $87,340 annually. Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin May 28 th , 2026. Position Summary Under the leadership of the Director of Auxiliary Services, the Mitchell Activity Center (MAC) Manager manages a strong and committed staff in operationalizing the Seattle Central College Mitchell Activity Center
  • a multi-purpose recreational facility that serves a diverse community of students, staff, faculty, and community membership with a comprehensive student-centered program that covers the competitive, informal, social, cultural and instructional aspect of recreational activities.
The MAC includes a gymnasium, dance studio, racquetball courts, weight room, game room, and meeting spaces and provides students with a learning laboratory for personal growth and the development of life-long skills through active experiences. As such, the MAC Manager must be dedicated to supporting student development, retention, and success by designing and delivering activities, services, and courses that focus on well-being. The MAC is self-supporting, and the Manager must assist the Director of Auxiliary Services in developing and implementing programs and financial plans that include revenue generation for the facility's operation. The Manager must also assist in planning, maintaining, and implementing risk management and operating policies and procedures that promote safe, healthy, enjoyable physical activity and reduce risk and liability. What you will be working on: Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Auxiliary Services, manages a dynamic and comprehensive campus recreation and fitness program, including Group Exercise, Personal Training, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Summer Camps, Outdoor Adventure, and Student Recreation Leadership program (Tournaments and Games (TAG) Team). With guidance from the Director of Auxiliary Services, collaborates with Student Development/Student Leadership in creating an environment that inspires innovation and effective student development and learning outcomes. Develop and promote effective collaborative relationships among students, faculty, staff, community, and alumni through the MAC¿s activities. Represents the MAC as the site manager and liaises with clients to fulfill agreed-upon terms. Supervises a team of classified staff and student employees and promotes their professional development. Leads the team in developing and administering policies and procedures. Prepares and monitors income and expense budgets. Initiates the MAC business planning; creates membership and program-driven operational budgets. Collaborates with the Business Office through the Director of Auxiliary Services in assisting with client deliverables, including billing and payment, and preparing quarterly and annual reports in alignment with client values and requests. Makes recommendations on capital equipment purchases and projects to the Director of Auxiliary Services and manages the inventory of all capital assets, including fitness equipment. Meets regularly with the Director of Auxiliary Services to discuss programs, fiscal recommendations, and initiatives. Builds and maintains strong partnerships with Student Development/Student Leadership to assess the needs of students and plan recreation programs that promote their well-being. Assists in the planning and operations of all aspects of the MAC, including liaising with other departments regarding custodial, general maintenance, and security services. Participate in campus-wide committees to coordinate related policies and campus-wide events. What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) A.A. in Recreation, Health and Physical Education, Public Health, Sports Management, Higher Education, Business Administration, or a related field.   • Five years of increasingly responsible management experience, including hiring and supervising staff.
Demonstrated experience, knowledge, understanding, skill, and ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment with diverse communities. Demonstrated experience in the development, administration, implementation, and assessment of an innovative and comprehensive recreation program or a program of similar breadth and complexity, with experience in managing and supervising staff. Be a highly motivated, energetic, self-starting team player with a proven record of success in administering a broad-based recreation or similar program with extensive facility management experience and expertise. Demonstrated skill in developing, implementing, and administering a business plan and budget management. Demonstrate an understanding of the value of and a commitment to building a culture of well-being for the entire campus community that extends beyond the programs offered in Campus Recreation. Experience in recreational facility management, including facility scheduling, equipment purchase, custodial and preventative maintenance, risk management, personnel training and supervision and fiscal management and control. Possess effective communication skills, including strong consultative, collaborative, and mediation skills; excellent presentation and writing skills; and proactive and responsive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional development of self and staff members, including experience with professional associations.
