In-Person Competitive Salary 3 Years Experience No formal schooling No Commission 37.00 hours per week / Day, Evening, Night, Weekend Shift / Full-Time Description The Manager, Science of Speed supports the daily operations of an electric go-kart course, F1 simulators, & related exhibits by leading and supervising a customer-facing team dedicated to providing exceptional service to all guests. The Manager provides guidance, coaching, and oversight in the areas of safety, guest service, and day-to-day operations. This role directly supervises track marshals, admissions/ticketing staff, and other exhibit personnel, ensuring they are prepared, trained, and supported to deliver a high-quality experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
Three years or more of experience in hospitality, customer service, entertainment-focused organization, or related industry. Previous supervisory experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to motivate staff and provide direction and leadership in difficult situations. Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, think quickly, and solve problems as they arise. Must be creative, articulate, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Conflict resolution skills are a must. Experience in employee scheduling and time-card management. Demonstrates moderate-to-advanced skills in Microsoft Office and the willingness and ability to learn other software necessary for the operation of the exhibition (ticketing, POS, waiver management, race timing, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires front line and administrative work. Must be able to maneuver (e.g., pull, push, lift) up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to perform various functions throughout the exhibition that require bending, squatting, reaching, and standing for extended periods of time. Ability to walk the entire multi-level track and be comfortable with heights up to 20 feet off the ground, climb stairs, and move about the museum is required. Candidates will be considered qualified if they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
SCHEDULING
Variable work week. Includes weekday, evening, and weekend shifts and holiday work as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for the successful day-to-day operations and experience of Science of Speed, with a focus on excellent guest service, accessibility, safety, seamless operations, and maximum efficiency. Serve as an "ambassador" for customer service and display a positive work attitude at all times. Model top-notch service to staff in all areas—working the front lines, leading training sessions, and speaking at staff meetings. Understand procedures for resolving customer conflicts and concerns and make informed decisions in handling situations. Serve as a primary point of contact for concerns and problems. Handle all information with sensitivity and confidentiality. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Science of Speed Team. Oversee staff scheduling and time management, ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts. Responsible for training staff, enforcing policies and procedures, and providing clear communication including timely feedback. When necessary, initiate corrective/disciplinary action with support and guidance from the Director & HR. Keep the team motivated, well-informed, and prepared to deliver exceptional service. Be an expert on safe go-kart track operation and oversee the training of a cadre of "Track Marshals" to monitor track and racers at all times ensuring safe operation by all users. Monitor the operation, staffing, and guest experience of multiple racing simulators housed within the exhibit and ensure seamless operation of the exhibition & track in collaboration with the lounge/bar/restaurant, supporting events, and private parties as needed. Develop an expert understanding of the ticketing & POS software utilized throughout the exhibit, swiftly solving issues and advising staff on best practices. Work collaboratively with Track Technicians. Maintain communication channel to report any issues with the track, karts, simulators, or exhibits within the space. Maintain daily operations reports. Track information and be responsive to items requiring follow-up. Ensure spaces are clean, organized, and presentable at all times. When needed, fill roles within Science of Speed team. When serving as such, perform all functions outlined in those roles. Remain in tune and responsive to the team's strengths and needed areas of growth. Has focus on the Science Center's 4 keys of operation: Safety, Courtesy, Experience, Efficiency. Show commitment to and maintain a balance of 4 keys in all aspects of Operations.
