Position Title:
Gym Supervisor Work Location:
Murfreesboro, Tennessee Part-Time Position:
2:00 pm-6:30 pm (Mon-Fri)
Starting Rate:
$17.00/hr Engage and inspire young people aged 5-18 to learn and grow to be responsible adults. Oversee the core programs of the Club for members, by planning, developing and implementing programs and activities that support the organization's standards. Must monitor and evaluate situations quickly using good judgment to assess situations and make decisions. Create and maintain a safe environment for members and adults within the program space. Communicate with parents as necessary regarding behavior issues and Club events.
GENERAL FUNCTION
The Gym Supervisor is responsible for planning and conducting a varied and exciting athletic, fitness, and sports program, giving informal guidance to members and maintaining a positive atmosphere in the Gym.
KNOW-HOW
Must have the ability to plan and conduct Gym games and activities. Must be able to enforce Boys & Girls Club rules and policies in a fair and equitable manner.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Train and supervise the Gym Assistant Supervise the Gym in its entirety and ensure members are safe and having fun Plan, schedule, and implement the Triple Play program, and sports and fitness activities for each age group Conduct quarterly fitness assessments and track members' progress Ensure members understand the rules of all games and are playing them accordingly Plan and implement quarterly sports tournaments for each age group Create innovative Gym and outdoor games with a focus on physical fitness Continually ensure all areas of the Gym are tidy/clean throughout the day Ensure that the equipment is working and in a safe condition- If any adjustments or repairs need to be done please address or report it to the Program Director Hold Orientation daily (and more as needed) to make announcements of upcoming events and go over rules that need to be addressed Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment, and ensure they remain in safe/working condition
WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the cleanliness of the Gym. Identify if there are any repairs.
JOB SEGMENTS
Conduct skills clinics for various sports Coach teams in BGCRC athletic leagues Recruit volunteer coaches and referees for BGCRC athletic leagues Organize and conduct the Gym Program, such as clinics for new members. Orientate new members to the Gym. Promote Gym activities and encourage participation by all members. Provide informal guidance to all members. Keep all equipment in good repair and ready for play. Keep the area clean and in order. Assist with other Boys & Girls Clubs activities and events as assigned. Participate in staff meetings and conferences. Additional Information Additional hours allotted for lesson plans, activity planning, and staff meetings. Opportunity for advancement is available to all staff. Qualifications High School Diploma; GED Experience working with children Knowledge of youth development Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems Ability to deal with the general public Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment CPR and First Aid Certifications (Will Train) Valid State Driver's License Attend ALL staff meetings and special training for employees All staff participate in special programs and/or events
Physical Requirements :
Helping members grow, learn, and gain new skills can be very rewarding. The work is sometimes routine but new activities and challenges mark each day. Youth development can be physically and emotionally taxing, as workers constantly stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift (25 pounds constantly) to attend to each member's interests and problems.
