Job Description
We are actively accepting applications and will begin interviewing qualified candidates to fill positions for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a 40-hour/week, Full Time (UNITE) position. New employees shall serve an initial probationary period of 120 workdays, with a review after 60 workdays. Flexibility in staffing to include changes in shift, schedule and days off as determined by the Catering Manager or Unit Manager. Previous 6 months food service experience preferred. Ability to follow oral and written instruction. Ability to care for and maintain equipment in daily work to include, slicers, dish machines, food processors, fryolators, steamers, grills and other equipment related to the preparations and serving of food items. Knowledge of simple record keeping. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. to chest level while standing. Sufficient stamina and ability to perform job duties effectively. Must be able to stand for a minimum of 4 hours. A physical and medical examination may be required. Valid CT driver's license. Duties to include but not limited to the following: Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the catering area. Works closely with the Catering Chef to ensure a smooth-running catering operation. Responsible for kitchen production work to include such things as fruit platters, deli trays, cheese trays, and vegetable trays for the Catering Department. Will assemble all necessary equipment, products and supplies for several catering deliveries every day. Will deliver and set up catering orders. Drives catering vehicles as required. Must communicate status of all catering events to supervisor. May supervise student catering works. Maintains level of sanitation prescribed by the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Properly disposes of trash and recyclables. Assist other workers in the ongoing facility cleaning. Responsible for completing catering reports. May assume responsibilities of a Kitchen Assistant in any location. Complies with all University and Departmental polices. Assumes same duties in another kitchen as required. Other related duties as required.
