Washington DC, United States of America About the position The senior visits and events specialist is located in the Executive Section of the Australian Defence Staff-Washington. The position supports the Defence Visits, Events and Protocol Manager under limited direction and is responsible for providing event, visit and protocol advice, coordination and implementation of VIP events/visits to the United States (US) by Defence personnel, Members of Parliament and other organisations. The role will require management of a small team and is office based. It is a dynamic work environment that will requires work outside core business hours. The successful applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance. Eligibility for employment for a foreign mission in the US

Eligible applicants must be: A US citizen or US lawful permanent resident (green card holder) (18 years or older), or In possession of an Employment Authorisation Document (EAD) which allows the holder to work outside the sponsoring organisation (for example, a derivative EAD or green card in progress) or eligible to apply for one, or In possession of an A2 visa or eligible to apply for one (20 years or older)

Employment based upon an A2 visa is limited to 5 years and cannot be extended. All periods of employment on an A2 visa at any Embassy, Consulate or foreign government office is included in the 5-year limit. All members of the A2 principal visa holder's household will be issued A visas or must change to an A visa as this visa class takes precedence. Those employees with a pathway to US permanent residency must take it up as soon as they become eligible. Remuneration package Salary USD $92,412

Performance Management Locally engaged staff engaged in an ongoing or fixed term capacity who are employed on 31 March, have worked in the role for at least 100 working days and meet performance standards are eligible to receive a salary advancement OR a bonus if at the top of their level. Additional Information This position is a designated security assessed position. Applicants must be a citizen of Australia, United States, Canada, United Kingdom or New Zealand to apply. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT recognised security clearance. Security clearances can take several months to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate clearance is confirmed. Inability to obtain a clearance prevents the applicant from being employed and loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
