Job Description

Integrative Biology is one of the largest departments in the College of Arts and Sciences, containing robust master and doctorate degree programs. The department supports a very active research program producing millions of dollars in grant awards. This role will support the development and implementation of ABE programming, assist in planning and executing logistics for ABE outreach events, and conduct kit distribution to teachers in neighboring counties. This is a temporary position that is funded by non-recurring funds and renewal is conditional upon the continuation of those funds.
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and at least 3 years of relevant experience in event planning or coordination.
  • Experience working in a university or large organizational setting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.
  • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
  • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
  • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
  • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
  • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
  • Assist in planning and executing logistics for university events, including registration, room setup, catering, audiovisual needs, transportation, and signage.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned events, ensuring all client needs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Coordinate with facilities, public safety, catering, and technical services to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Support the development and implementation of event satisfaction surveys and post-event evaluations.
  • Maintain event documentation, timelines, and budgets; track expenses and assist with financial reconciliation.
  • Supervise student workers or temporary staff during events as needed.
  • Assist with marketing and promotional efforts in collaboration with the Communications &Marketing department.
  • Participate in summer conference planning and execution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
